Google has taken a huge stride ahead with the Tensor G5 chip powering its new Pixel 10 lineup one built utilizing TSMC’s breakthrough 3 nm fabrication process. This crucial transition in production represents a fresh chapter in Google’s silicon strategy.

According to Google, the Tensor G5 boasts up to 34% faster CPU performance and 60% more sophisticated AI capabilities compared to its predecessor, Tensor G4.
A leak from Geekbench 6 shows that the Pixel 10 Pro XL has a 21% faster single-core performance and a 46% faster multi-core performance. This supports the idea that the phone is faster.
AI that is smarter and works better
Tensor G5 provides not only sheer performance but also improved on-device AI. It hosts Google’s Gemini Nano model-reportedly 2.6× faster and twice as efficient as on the G4-and boasts a modular “Matryoshka” transformer architecture that flips between heavy or lightweight models depending on your needs.
Enhanced batteries and Thermals
Pixel 10 devices now tout over 30 hours of battery life, up from around 24 hours on prior generations thanks in part to more efficient silicon and TSMC’s stronger power management.
Thermal performance also improves with updated hardware and cooling solutions graphite for the base model and vapor chambers in the Pro variations.

With Tensor G5, Google displays its personalized approach: developing a processor tuned for its AI-driven camera system, upgraded features like ProRes Zoom, advanced speech capabilities, and deep camera optimizations through a revised ISP all while moving to a more efficient production node.
